Tomorrow is Auggie's birthday! How should we celebrate? First, we are going to read - and for more than just a few minutes! I know you guys are enjoying this book and are ready to really get into it, so I will set aside at least 15 minutes for read-aloud time. Second, we are going to spend some time talking about bullying and I am going to ask for volunteers to pledge to "choose kind" which means you promise to make an effort every day to be a little kinder than necessary. Finally, we will spend a few minutes celebrating Auggie's birthday. I'll let you be surprised!

Nice blog. We will start looking at it regularly. I like the idea of addressing bullying. Another great concept that changes behavior is the constant reminder of saying "thank you". The ex upper school head at Seven Hills consistently stressed this and it changed the culture of the school. Almost every kid habitually says "thank you" when you open doors for them, etc. It shows respect and acknowledges kindness.
ReplyDeleteBTW: Your blog may be set on PST rather than EST
ReplyDeleteI figured that was the case, but since I am new at blogging, I have not been able to figure out how to change it. I am working on it though! I think I am going to have to break down and ask our tech person for help. There are a few things I want to add to the blog site that I have been unable to figure out as well. It's a learning process, and one that I am enjoying. Thanks for checking out the blog!
